Analysis of Nutrient Content in Dry Matter
Legend for plants:
Alternanthera_R = Alternanthera reineckii,
Ammannia_G = Ammannia pedicellata 'Gold',
Hygrophila_C = Hygrophila corymbosa,
Pogostemon_D = Pogostemon deccanensis,
Rotala_W = Rotala wallichii
Legend for values:
Deficiency
Sufficiency
Excess
Toxicity
Note: The main values indicate the internal concentration of the element in dry matter (% for macroelements or ppm for microelements);
the superscript indicates the external concentration of the element in water column (mg/ℓ for macroelements or µg/ℓ for microelements).
By clicking on the selected header item (e.g., Plant, Experiment, N, NO₃), you can sort the values in the table according to that item (ascending with one click, descending with another click).

Notes
Experiment #2: 🌍
- Extreme CO₂ concentration used together with higher pH/KH.
- Plants were planted in pure silica sand.
Experiment #5: 🌍
- Most plants showed growth defects (except for some species in tanks 1, 3, 5, 7).
- Plants in tanks 1 to 4 were planted in organic substrate capped with sand.
- Plants in tanks 5 to 8 were not planted in any substrate; their roots floated freely in the water column, which may have affected the uptake/processing of certain nutrients.
Experiment #6: 🌍
- Most plants showed growth defects (except for some species in tanks 3 and 7).
- Plants in tanks 1 to 4 were planted in organic substrate.
- Plants in tanks 5 to 8 were not planted in any substrate; their roots floated freely in the water column, which may have affected the uptake/processing of certain nutrients.
Experiment #7: 🌍
- Most plants (from Ammannia and Rotala family) showed mild growth defects (probably due to iron deficiency/toxicity).
- Plants in tanks 2 and 5 were planted in organic substrate capped with sand.
- Plants in tanks 1, 3, 4 and 6 were not planted in any substrate; their roots floated freely in the water column, which may have affected the uptake/processing of certain nutrients.
Experiment #8: 🌍
- The plants were left without nutrients for a week to determine which elements are most limiting in their nutrition, which may be the main reason for their subsequent N/P/Fe deficiency. Before the nutrients were omitted, there were no visible signs of deficiency on most of the plants (with the exception of tanks 5 and 6).
- Plants in all tanks were planted in pure silica sand.
